Sunflower River

We are now visiting the Sunflower River Community, located on the outskirts of Albuquerque. Sunflower River is a small community following a spiritual path of paganism whose members live close to the land by growing organic food and embracing sustainability and interdependence as a way of life.

Blessed with sunny weather near 70 degrees, it was a beautiful day to drive from our campground in Cedar Crest to Sunflower River. We were received so very warmly by our Alan, our host, and we spent several hours talking about communities, the growing population of American nomads, economics, spirituality, and sustainable lifestyles. With a tour of the gardens, a leisurely dinner and more hours of interesting and engaging conversation, it was a  spirited and enjoyable welcome to our 23rd intentional community.

Stay tuned for a few photos and an update tomorrow, which happens to be Easter Sunday.
